Aladdin... Stereotypes...
Watching Aladdin was really nice, but the point was to find some stereotypes, so here they are!
Watching Aladdin was really nice, but the point was to find some stereotypes, so here they are!
Today, we watched the famous Disney movie, Aladdin which relates to the next chapter we'll be learning about in social studies, Islam. Even though, we all know there's no such thing as magic genies granting your wishes and flying carpets, there are also alot of other things from Aladdin that is similar to Islam. Some of the stereotype and true information about Islam based on Aladdin is that Islam is a city of mystery. To start off, some of the animals they probably owned are camels, monkeys, and elephants. Islam probably had some places full of sand and large gust of winds. Furthermore, Islam was a pretty poor place and most of the kids and people were starving with barely anything to eat except for the sultans and princesses who lives in palaces and are rich. In the marketplace located in the streets, there are merchants selling pottery, jewelry, and food. However, there are also burglars trying to steal the items especially valuable ones. There 's also a dungeon where they threw the burglars in with rats crawling around. In the Islamic world, the men dressed in turbans with puffy pants and the women wore shawls/scarves except the royalty; they dressed differently. As you can see, the movie Aladdin is quite similar to life in Islam.
Aladdin! Jamine! Genie! Abu! Iago! Magic Carpet! Rocks!
So we watched the movie Aladdin and have to make a blog about the stereotypes and relationships of the Islamic world. To begin with, they have merchants that sell merchandise, such as jewelry, food, pottery, and maybe, weapons. They also had muggers or robbers that steal valuable things, so beware. The Islamic world had several outfits for their jobs or royalty. Like, some women dancers wear those scarf-like things. Islam was a poor place, and some children are in need of food. Some architecture, such as the princesses' palace, is related to Rome and the U.S.A. The movie Aladdin did mostly good on the outfits, in my opinion. The stereotypes had a lot of examples, mine is that they had people from Aladdin who are related to the Islamic world and they had similar personalities. This is some of my thoughts about Aladdin and the Islamic world.
OK!!! During the first part of the movie Aladdin that we watched today, there were a few stereotypes and true information about the Islamic world. Some of the information was that Islamic people do markets in the streets for example, they sell jewelry, pots, and of course food. Also, when someone steals anything in general, they have to pay the price of cutting their hand off. Also, obviously the men that are Islamic wear turbans and the women wear scarves. Some stereotypes are that all dungeons are spooky and have dirty rats in there.
i would like to learn a lot of things about the new religion islam. i would like to learn if the religion spread quickly through the ancient world. i know that i will learn a lot about the new religion islam
Something i would like to now about islam is, who created this religion and how long it has been around. I don't think we can know who created it but i want to knw what type of people followed it. I think they might know how long it has been around because we know how ling christianity has been around so i think their might be some information to.
In chapter Three, I'd like to learn about Islam culture, religion ( I'd like to see what they believe in ) and possibly art (I love art)!
If i were to learn about the Islamic culture, I would like to know what foods they ate. I would also like to learn about their rules, laws, and beliefs. It would be intresting to know what kind of gods they believed in and what language(s) they speak.
ISLAMIC LEARNING
I want to know the origin of Muslims. I want to know who made the religion, and what the people do when practicing that religion. I'm not sure which "god" they believed in, so I want to learn what they would do. I want to know their sacred possessions and their rules about life.
I am very interested about Islamic religion because I don't know much of their cultures and what they do.
What is Islam? Is it a religion? Is it a country? Do they have McDonalds there? Do they love Subway there like in the United States? These questions will be answered by the history book this week as my class reads about Islam. What I want to learn about is Islam's cultures, religions, and economy...and if there are Subways there...
What I want to discover about Islam, is their culture/religion. All the religions are unique and different of the ancient world. I want to know if they're montheastic or polytheastic. Are they Christian or or do they beleive in several gods such as the Sun god or something? I am really interested to find out!
What I want to learn about Islam is how did Islam begin. Who were the rulers? Were they kings and queens, emperors and emperess? Did they had an army, if so, were they a strong, powerful army conquereing others? What about their dieting? Did they relate their dieting to the Roman Empire? These questions can be answered, but this is what I want to know.
On our trip to Europe, some things that we should definitely visit are the Colosseum, where gladiators once fought, the Parthenon, which was built to worship Athena, and maybe we can even visit the Madrid Cathedral, which declared Madrid an official city in Spain. This would lead you to the urge to see some art. The Romans of Ancient Rome painted many murals on the palace walls. In some churches mosaics still remain and life-like statues of gods, goddesses, emperors and other important people can still be seen. After a long day you would need something to eat. Many different varieties of food are served throughout Europe. Rome is a great place for pizza and pasta. The ancient Roman Empire went from a kingdom to a republic to an empire. Most of European land now is mostly a republic or a democracy.
I would like to know what the religion of Islam was.I got interested in knowing the religion because I seen a page on Google that said, "Islam, the second largest world religion..ans still growing. So know im hooked and want to find out the religion.
After reading the last few chapters in the Social Studies book, I am very excited to read the new lesson. From this lesson, I wish to learn about many different aspects such as who was Mohammad and why he was so important. I also want to learn more about the Islamic religion and who the believed.
Rome was a great empire that like many empires fell because of to much power. A place I think we should visit would be the colosseum. I think we should visit this place because it was important in rome to help distract people's mind off of the trubles they were having. We should also visit what used to be their churches. I think we should visit the churches because their main religion ,wich was christianity, is still a very important religion today.
What I would like to learn about the Muslims is their religion which is Islam. I would also like to learn more about their culture and their daily life. I wonder what god they believed in. That is what I would like to learn.
Speaking of Islam. I have a few questions to be answered just because. S.T.E.E.P

For our field trip to the Roman Empire, what better place to visit, than the city Rome? we can see and observe the leftover ruins and learn about the arts, architecture, and engineering skills of past Romans. We can also go visit the Sistine chapel to learn more about Rome's religion, while also observing the famous ceiling filled with art done by Michelangelo. we can eat food from restaurants there and see how the people of Rome liked their food. Of course, we should also travel to a different side of Rome, a poorer side and compare life in the poorer part and the richer part of Rome.
We're taking a trip to Europe to visit Rome. . . yeah! Rome has been blossoming over the last few years. To start off our trip, we should first visit the rich Vatican City where the Vatican Palace is located. . . why not see something cool to start off our trip. From there, we can visit the Colosseum in which you can watch chariot races and wrestling/fighting with other entertainment. Other good places would be the Bath of Diocletian or the Roman Forum. Without a doubt, we should stop by the Sistine Chapel in which Michaelangelo's artwork on the ceiling that took four years to paint is there for all to see. Furthermore, there are also good food in Rome, Italy including: pizza- of course, tasty appetizers, Italian sausage, pasta- including spagetti, lasgana, carbonara, and alfredo served with breadsticks and creme brulee for desert. If not, we can visit Gelateria del Teatro, the best gelato shop ever for some gelato/ice-cream. . . yum!
