Embarassing or Encouraging? The Roman Skit :)

On 10/9, which was a Friday, we performed skits that we made in front of the class. Preparing was pretty simple, but time- consuming. In my group was Henry, Harrison, Justin, Katy, Jocelyn, and me. We had class time to write and practice, but weren't cooperative with each other. So, Harrison, Henry, and I satyed after school to complete and practice the skit. BUT, thankfully, Mr. G moved the performance day to the next, so we got more time to practice. Obviously, we needed more time and energy to make this play the best we could.

Katy brought in some costumes related to the skit. But we only got to use one because there was only one that fit in to any scene.

This activity was different than others, so it was fun and exciting. Yes, there was a lot of silence and intesity while performing, but that helped us do better so as not to mess up in front of everyone. Overall, my experience with the skit was cool, so I enjoyed doing this, and hope to do something like this again!

The 5 diamonds

The 5 diamonds explains the P.E.S.T Analysis. The lst diamond is about Social Culture, and it shows that Christianity in Rome was Forbidden, So whoever in Rome was Christian, was put to death. The 2nd Diamond shows economy, and the fact that they traded throughout the Mediterranean Sea. The 3rd diamond shows how chariots, were technology. They gave the Romans entertaiments, and boat, which led navel war. There are seven hills, and the Tiber River, the geography that gave Romans protection and trade route. Hence the picture in the background. The last diamond holds the Roman forum, political center in Rome. Overall, Rome is a famous Empire that has a interesting history. LOL

Our Skit? Well...

Wow. Our skit was okay. I think we could have done better, though. Our props were okay, but in my opinion, our play was too unrehearsed. We messed up on some lines, and our acting was not so great. But it was still fun to experience it. And I've learned so much! I wish we would have more plays and skits in the future!

Roman Drawing

In our picture, we drew the things that we learned in Lesson 1 about Rome that we thought were important to their history and culture. The things we included were the Seven Hills, a map of Rome, their agriculture, Religion/Christianity, slavery, the people's rights, and chariot races. We interpreted the map of Rome because we thought it was important to know wheere everything is. The Seven Hills benefited from a favorable enviroment of Rome expanded. Agriculture helped keep people from starving (keep people with happiness) Religion and Chistianity was drawn because it represented the religion in Rome. Romans used slaves to harvest crop. Chariots were drawn because they were popular sports and the most common transportation. Overall, Rome is pretty cool!

Fun?!

"The Rise and Fall of Rome" skit was funish. However, things did not go as prepared. We were panicking at the last second and everything was not going right. Most of us were on stage at the wrong time or we were not on the stage when we had to. I, the narrator was afraid that I would make mistakes in speaking, and of course, I did. In all though, it was a wonderful experience full of laughter and embarrassment!

"The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire" by Nicole

As you all know, we did our skits on Friday! My group, (Nicole, Jonathan, Courtney, Kaili, Augustine, and Michelle) were AWESOME! We learned that the cause of the fall of Rome was from the decline in agriculture, political problems, and the conquering of near by lands. It is kinda sorta like what we are going through today. "The rise and fall of the economy." NOT REALLY! We had a great experience acting it out and the exercise made the lesson alot more fun and may have helped us absorb the information better!

THANX YOU!

Roman Skit Response

the class made skits to show the rise and fall and bloody violence...er... i meant the important aspects described in the PEST analysis (Political. Economics. Social-Cultural. Technology) Besides an unnatural amount of emphasis on the assassinations and wars, every group delivered their message using a sense of humor and confidence.

Roman skit

Last week we had our Roman skits. There where about six groups of people that were going to preform. Our group was the second to go up and preform our skit. Everybody had a great skit and some people even brought in modern day items like cellphones and guns. We had four other judjes to help Mr. G grade. They even watched our skits.

Super Awesome Ultra Delicious Amazing Incredible Skit

Last Friday, Mr.G's class did a play based on the Rise and Fall of Rome. We planned and practiced for two days. Everyone's play was really funny and interesting. I think everyone worked really hard to get a great skit going. It was a really wonderful experience. In the end, everyone in the class did a great job on their skit.

WORLD'S BEST SKIT

I liked doing the skits because we learned while embarassing ourselves. I was Octavian. It was cool also because we got to use weapons and stab each other. I have learned many things about Rome but the most interesting fact is that Rome is that slves took up 40% of Rome's population. THANK YOU AND GOOD-BYE.

I had a lot of fun in my skit. I was the narrator, Diego was Augustus, Jeremy was a soldier, Matthew was Tarquin the proud, Julius Caesar, and a soldier, and the other two girls were the senate and the citizens. My favorite part was when the senate killed Julius Caesar because it was very funny. I learned about a lot of things, like the Romans leaving us aqueducts, like 1 below.

Skit on The Rise and Fall of Rome

The skit that my group performed was really.......... embarrasing(?) and fun. As I was practicing the skit, I learned a lot about the rise and fall of Rome. I learned how Rome conquered many lands and how they their empire declined. I also learned how the Romans suffered through many hard times durning the decline of the empire and how Constantine and Diocletian supported Rome for 200 years. I learned many other things and I had very much fun.

I was a Germanic....

I think that even though doing the skit was a valuble experience, we still shouldn't have done it. Getting ready was kinda fun, but presenting it was just plain awkward. Our skit was mainly about the Germanic invasion, and before that, the two Caesars. Our narrator, Tushara had a script while we, the actors, made it up as we go along. (as you can see, I obviously forgot the word for that) I can also say this. WE DID HORRIBLY... i think.... (i also think tushara copied me on the picture)

the skit

When i went in the front with my group, i was very nervous. We had rehearsed a couple of times but i was still uneasy. During the skit, we had messed up a few scenes. In the end, i was relieved that we had finished it. And now i can look back and laugh at myself. :D

OUR TOTALLY AMAZING, BRILLIANT, INCREDIBLE (oh my goodness :D) SKIT!

Hello! :)
Although our skit may not have been the best, I understood much better the topic we were studying.

From preparing and presenting this skit, I received an "inside look" and was able to understand Rome and what it was like a little better. Throughout this skit, I always thought back to myself, "Would I have liked to live her?" I learned that Rome, and everywhere else, has its ups and downs when it comes to actually living there. For instance, compare Augustus' Pax Romana with the economic issues and the invasions of the decline of the empire.

No matter how great the rise (of the Roman Empire), there is no way of controlling the decline.

*Courtney!*

the skit

i had a very fun time doing my skit and putting it together. i learned many things while practicing my skit. i learned that the roman empire was conquered by the huns and the germanics and the slovs. i played the part constantine, the senate that murdered julius ceasar, and i was the person with julius ceasar when they were conquering land. we were all nervous and scared but we all got over it and finished the skit. i had a lot of fun.

JUSTIN

Roman Empire Skit

The skit was very fun and exciting. My group changed the lines right before we started so we forgot many of our lines and I was the only one in the group who knew to to improvise. Nevertheless, the skit itself flowed smoothly...kinda...My favorite art was when we all got mixed up when I got killed as Tarquin the proud and then stood right back up when I became Julius Caesar. I loved seeing the panic on my group's faces. They all looked scared even though I loved this project. I hope that we are able to make more skits like this in the future. The only part that I didn't like was that we weren't able to put as much creativity as I would have because my group said that miniguns, "Ragga Laggas!", and "Showy-offy Skittles!" were too "creative."

(Left: My AWESOME Minigun idea. Below: A Ragga Lagga!

So then we had to stick with these ugly swords and shields.
(My version of an ugly sword.)

But in the end, it all worked out..kinda..

The rise and FALL of the roman empire...(btw...IT FELL)

Our class did short skits on the rise and the FALL of the roman empire. we learned that Tarquin the proud was the last emperor of Rome and Julius Caesar became the ruler afterward. he controlled Rome firmly and so restored order. after he was assassinated, because religious leaders were jealous of his power, his adopted son, Octavian, took over. he changed his name to Augustus and ruled as well as his father. later, Diocletian became ruler of the roman empire and divided it in two parts, the east and the west, to better control the society. Constantine, the ruler after Diocletian, declared the end of the attacks to the Christians. but the western roman empire FELL due to poor agriculture and invaders. The skit was a very "interesting" experience. it made me very nervous but over all it was very fun.

ps. The roman empire FELL!!!

The Skit

The skit was scarier than I thought. I mean, there were 4 teachers there, one being the drama teacher! But, once we got over our fears, it was fun. It's almost like you're a different person. I got to be Julius Ceasar, and I was stabbed to death by my consul. =/ And then I was whipped by a slave owner. Not a pleasant life, but it was really interesting! To be honest, I think I was really embarrassing!!!

Pic kind of related.

Rise and Fall of the Roman Emipire skit

On October 9th, our social studies class performed skits in front of our fellow classmates and even a few other teachers. We were all very excited about the skit, while at the same time dreading it.
To make our performances more realistic, our grouop, like all others used props and costumes to emphasise the period in rome.
We all learned a lot about the Roman Emire from our skits as well as everybody elses. ALso, we learned about performing details, like making sure we projct our voice, and making sure we face our audience. All in all, I believe that everyone learned alot from our skits, while having a good time ..

"The Rise and Fall of Rome Skit"

Our skit was pretty short, but I thought it was awsome. All of the skits were great and every single one of them had something special about it. I thought that this assignment was really fun and this was a great experience. Every one of the group's skit had humor, details, creativity, etc. This was really interesting and I hope we have this assignment again!

Rise and Fall Skits! Rome

Last Friday, the class performed their skits about the Roman Empire. Each of the skits displayed information about the rise and fall, and had the events in order so it was like some sort of timeline. Even though all the groups' skits were of the same topic, they were all different in many ways. The length, the way the information got to the audience, and the sense of humor for each skit were different. Many groups seemed as though they had practiced a lot and were very detailed for each scene. There was humor which made the skit much more fun to watch. I admit that our group has lots of room for improvement, but we tried our best and we still had fun making the whole skit up. But still, all the skits were interesting and it was a fun experience. :)

Our Awesome Skit!!!!!!!!!! :) (and yes it was about Rome)

Before our skit we had some days to practice and plan. When we were planning we learned a lot about cooperation. Although that didn't help my confidence. We watched everyone's skit before us and I got really nervous. Then it was our turn to show everyone what we learned.
My group gave the skit some humor and a little of creativity. We messed up a few times but at least that's a lesson learned. At least we had fun and gave people some information on the Roman Empire. Next time I think I'll try to be more prepared and try not to embarass myself.
WE HAD HUMAN AQUEDUCTS!!! YAY!
-Melina was here :)

Roman skit

My skit was very fun, but we forgot a lot of our lines. I learned a lot of things. My favorite part was when Julius Caesar gets killed by the senate. I hope we can do something like this again. One part we did right was when we formed aquaducts. The part I played was a soldier.

An AWESOME skit !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a very good experience doing the skits for history class. I great time rehearsing it with my group. Saying the lines over and over made me remember and understand the history. Our skit was probably 3-4 minutes, and I thought it was pretty funny. All the skits had its own humor. Coming up with the lines was pretty chaotic. Only 3 of us stayed after school to come up with the lines because 2 people had volleyball and football and the other had to take the bus.
It ended up that the 3rd person had to leave. So me and Allison stayed to write the script but the next day she came with a whole new script that she wrote herself . It ended up that we did a pretty good job. Over all I think that everyone had a great time, and we were learning history at the same time.

On Friday, we had a skit on "The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire". I learned a lot of things I didn't know like the Roman Empire was split into two empires east and west. I had a lot of acting infront of the class and other visitors. My part in the play was being narrator/grandma. I also loved helping come up with ideas about the skit. I'm looking forward to Drama Class.

my kinda fun experience with skits..

I think watching the skits and performing one was a really fun experience. There was a lot of humor and I learned a lot about how the Roman empire rose and also how it declined. While watching the skits, I not only learned about the Roman Empire, but also about adding a little comedy and drama to it. When we were practicing the play, we chose parts and acting our own way, meaning we improvised while acting out the parts. Even though we made mistakes and it was pretty weird, I learned a lot and had fun making up a skit.. :)

The play

While I was praticing the play about the Roman Empire fall, I had a lot of fun. I had Ben, Erin, Daphane, and Mindy in my group. Everyone but Daphane had numerous parts. For example, Ben had to be a a poor farmer, and be Julius Caesar. While we were practicing, we would stop laughing. We would throw Monopoly money in the air. Erin had a lot of killing and fighting parts, which she was really excited about. Daphane was the narrator, and she gave us lots of good ideas. Overall I had a lot of fun.

Shoot for the Moon. Even if you miss, you WILL land among the stars.

"Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars," Brian Littrel once said sagely. This quote makes me think back to last Friday. As a group, we all tried relentlessly to make our skit the best and we all landed on the moon. Although nothing went as plan like Michelle, Poonam, and I planned to meet after school, at well, school, but our plan went flop, flop, flop because we all weren't concentrating. (Actually, I bought a Pizookie, but we have to support the school, right?) Anyway, after Michelle, Poonam, and I wrote down the facts, I wrote the script at home, embellishing it with jokes to make it less serious. =] Afterward, we practiced it at school, and I like it. Meow. However, back onto the subject. Everyone had a great play! Yay, and all of us were stars and that means you. The expierece was a life-time... um..... expierece. ;]

Our Skit!!!!!!!!

Our skit was short but awesome. We made mistakes, but we tried our best. That is what counts. I think we covered most of the chapter. It was cool because we didn't have to read off of the paper. We had to create our own. Hopefully, we can do better next time.

"The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire" Skit

On Friday, everyone in Mr. G's class performed their "Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire" skit. After two days of planning and practicing, we all performed live with props and costumes. Each play was unique in its own way, with different storylines, scripts, and jokes, but in the end, they all shared the same idea. Personally, I believe that our group did a fantastic job, especially since we were given a very limited time to work. Finally, I just wanted to say that everyone did a great job.

Our AWESOME(?) drawing/mural. :)

In our drawing, we depicted the socio-cultural, political, religion, and agricultural/environment aspects of Rome. For instance, chariot races, the Forum, symbols of Christianity, and the Tiber River and the Appeninnes mountains. Politics are represented by the Form because it was Rome's main political center where political figures debated. The Tiber represents not only Rome's environment but also agriculture and economics. The Tiber River flows near Rome and gives this city a way of importing and exporting with many other European countries. It also produced great and well moistured soil for crops to grow. Also, the surrounding Appeninnes Mts. provided a protective border for the Romans and helped shape fine, fine weather. Christianity was a MAJOR religion during the Roman times. The teachings of Jesus and the Word of God spread and spread and SPREAD throughout the empire. Soon, it even revolutionized the whole Roman empire.

This is what we depicted in our drawing. :)

Our experiance with the skit

The experience that I got through the skit was fun, exciting , and new. I had never done something like this in school with a group of students instead of with a teacher. It was exciting because we got to put in our own ideas instead of reading it from a paper some other person wrote. I think it was fun because we also got to pick and use our own props. The hardest part I think was getting started none of us could come up with ideas that fit the theme we were working on. All in all I think this experience had some hard things but was also fun, new, and exciting. :)
