Roman Sports
I have learned that the romans enjoyed violence for entertainment like in gladiator games (which were held in the colosseum). Many slaves were forced and have died in gladiator games. The Romans also had chariot racing which sometimes were very brutal. If your chariot was tipped over you could have been crushedby your horses if you didn't have a knife to cut yourself free. In many games they ended bloody. Here is the Colosseum

i like your pic...once i clicked on it...but alot of the times the slaves were sentenced to death but they seemed like good candidates to fight and entertain the king and other people. so if they eventually won a certain amount of games then they would be free. so its like be free or die at your own risk...

wow. i'm glad that i dont have to participate in any of the races in rome. That is very interesting melina. I knew about the chariot races, but i didnt know about the gladiator games. Wow romans are very cruel.
How vulgar. I really don't get why people then and people now like watching people get hurt or people dying. I just think its really, really sad. Even though the Romans were known as barbarians, that is just plain cruel.
Wow, romans were realy violent and enjoyed the pain of others didn't they? No wonder they had a brilliant army.

It's a wonder why people still continue that, even through modern times, like wrestling, where some people may even die, while the audience cheers on.
The slaves were forced to fight against lions, and that was how they were put to death. OMG it's so violent. -Ben
