How did the wealth of the Abbasids bring them to their downfall? Abbasid's wealth brought them to their downfall by making them greedy, lazy, sybarites. They became rich because of trading. ed the taxes. All that wanting made them into greedy It made them more laid back and wanting. Soon enough, they were fond of luxury and goods as well as soft living. They started to run low on money so they increased the tax. All that wanting has made them in to greedy people. Since they had everything they needed they started to ignore their citizens, which made them lazier. In conclusion, the wealth of Abbasid make them in to lazy, greedy, sybarites and that is how it brought them to their downfall.
