Confucianism & West African Culture

Confucianism & West African Culture

In families, Confucius wanted the children to have respect for their parents and the elders in the family. Confucianism affected the many aspects of Chinese society & government. But unfortunately around A.D 200, Confucianism began to weaken as the Han Dynasty did too.

However in the West African Culture, it's different. The family relationships were very important to their culture. In the kinship groups, whatever the problem is, the eldest members of the group makes the decision.

Both have similarities. For instance, both cultures have respect for the eldest in the families. In the Confucianism, children have to have respect for the eldest in the family. In the West African Culture, the decisions were always made by the eldest in the family also. Together, it brings peace and order to the community
