Test Essay

In the golden age of Cordoba, Cordoba had a great leader known as Abd-al-Rahman III. Even at its height, Cordoba still had some problems. But the Caliph Abd-al-Rahman III stopped all internal revolts. Abd-al-Rahman also created a huge standing army. Abd-al-Rahman was kind of like FDR (Franklin Theodore Roosevelt) in world war II. Abd-al-Rahman III stopped all internal revolts on his city just like how Teddy Roosevelt stopped all attacks on America in world war II. In conclusion Abd-al-Rahman was a great leader and lead his city into a golden age for 100 years.

Cordobas golden age of Economy was very good. Cordoba had thousands of trading posts spread throughout the city. Cordoba craftsmen sold silk, leather, weapons, and etc. Farming, for being in a desert, flourished. Farmers sold produce, such as rice, cherries, peaches, and apricots. For being in a desert, where farming isn't really thought of being possible at this age, the farmers made the best out of it and really made the city prosper. Cordoba also had alot of smart people in the city, so that also contributed to the creation of silk and stronger weapons. All and all, Cordoba's economy looked very well off and looked like it would be prosperous for a long time.

Cordoba's social-cultural aspects were very good. They had a variety of differnt books from many differnt places. Cordoba had about 70 libraries and a total of about 400,000 books. Muslim scholars translated alot of the books into Latin. Muslim scholars were very smart. By being very smart they wanted to know how other countries did things so they brought books from other countries and translated them. By doing this (if Muslim scholars knew it or not) they were bringing differnt cultures into their society. Kind of like America has all these books from around the world for our people to read. All and all, Cordoba was very social-cultured thanks to all the books they read.

Cordobas technology was very advanced for there era. we today still use some of the stuff they came up with like Algebra. For instance one muslim scholar even wrote a book about all the sugeries they could preform and all the tools needed. Muslim scholars even made maps based off the technology of maps that had already been created. To conclude Cordoba created very advanced in there math (obviosly) and there medical.

This is a picture of three poeple riding to Cordoba so they can buy and trade goods.

Good job! I like how you connected books to the merging of different cultures. Then you connected it to our world today. But... FDR is Franklin Delano Roosevelt. :) I think you switched Teddy with him. :) Great analysis and good facts! Good job!
