The Epic Battle of Camels and Horses

Rome and Islam are both similar and different in many ways. Some ways they are similar and different are social-culturally, politically, and technologically. For example, in the area of social-culturally they both believed in one god. Next, in the political area Islam had leaders that followed the same religion while Rome had leaders that were sometimes powerful generals or leaders that were elected. Finally, technologically both empires were very advanced.

Roman culture and Islamic culture were both the same, yet different in lots of ways. Like there religion for instance Romans were Christians and Islams were Muslims. (pg.50 and pg.93) There religion was similar because they both were monotheists which means you believe in one god. Both religions also believed that there was a son of there they worshiped. AllahFor example, Romans believed that Jesus was the son of God and Muhammad was the son of there god named . This shows that they had many ways of following their religion.

The political area of Rime and Islam had many differences in government and some similarities. The Romans were first a kingdom, than a republic, and finally an empire.(pg.48 and pg.49) The Islamic government was also an empire, but they would pick there leaders in a different way. The Islamics split into two. One side's beliefs was called Sunni which meant any Muslim who follows Muhammad's example may be a ruler. The other side's beliefs was called Shah which meant only a descendant of Muhammad and Ali may be a ruler. The Roman leaders could be elected as generals or sons of previous rulers. (pg.103 and pg. 49) The Islamic government related to religion while Roman government was related to military and wealthy people.

Rome's technology and Islam's technology had many great ideas. cThe Romans made this thing called aqueducts which brought water to the city.(pg.69) The Islams did not need aqueducts because they lived near oases which is a desert area with enough water to supply a city. The Islams built war torpedoes.(from video) This must have made them have a strong army and probably wanted more land. Both of there technology was very advanced.

Even though Rome and Islam were not alive in the same time period. Both empires had many similarities and many differences.
