Rome
I learned that Rome used to be a Republic. However, the Republic ended during the time of Julius Ceasar and his son Augustus soon took over his place. Then, Rome soon became an enormous empire with Augustus as the emperor.

Pax Romana
Rome originally was an empire until little Tarquin the Proud came and was not very nice. :D Then they made a republic until the civil war and Caesar. :)
Tarquin the Proud ruled with a harsh hand, so the Romans had revolted against him.
Agustus was a great ruler when Rome became an empire.
yeah...and then it fell because of its not so good rulers after Julius Ceasar and Augustus.:D
And, don't forget, the long duration of peace was called Pax Romana, or "Roman Peace."
