It Turns out that The Whole New World is Still full of Stereotypes
Our class was watching the movie Aladdin and was intsructed to look for stereotypes shown in the movie. Here are some of the things i observed in the movie
Rich people tend to show their rich in many ways. For example, princess jasmine owns a tiger, something very exotic that not many people have. also the princes that come to court her put on large spectacular shows when they ride through the streets of Agrabah. They also tend to be a complete jerk and stuck up.
The Islamic world seems to be home to many myths such as the magical lamp and flying carpets.
Finally, men usually have turbans and women usually cover their face with a veil, possibly for religious purposes.

I didn't pick up the part where the rich SHOW their wealth openly. The tiger and such are ways in which they show their luxurious lifestyle. The pessimistic comment, on the other hand, about these people's character... not very nice. :) It's probably not fully true, too. I didn't pick the part about the veil up but it probably was for religious purposes. Maybe Jasmine did it just to conceal her identity (?).
DUDE AGUSTIN WHY DID YOU POST THIS WEIRDO ON A MAGIC CARPET AND WHATS UP WITH THAT OLD GRAMPS TOO BUT OTHER THEN THOSE ITS AWESOME EXPECIALLY BECAUSE OF THE PICTURES.

i'm sad, "anonymous" spelled my name wrong. and the funny pictures r cuz i couldnt find any from the actual movie. of course the statement about the rich ppl being jerks isnt true, because its a stereotypes, but that is depicted with most of the rich ppl. like jafar and the princes that come to court jasmine. i think the sultan is an exception tho because he there for comedy relief.
