Samurai and Problematic Knights

The samurai were influential to the entire culture and lifstyle of Japan. Based on different perspectives, I believe that overall, the Japanese samurais were better than the European knights. First of all, the knights were unruly and often decided to attack others just for their own fun. Based on many articles, I found that the knights would attack and abuse peasants for their recreation, hurting people as they please. If they broke their code, they would not be punished and could do it again. Samurai, on the other hand, would be peaceful. In the unlikely case where they would harm others, they would immediately commit suicide, because they broke a code of Bushido. I believe that this was the most honorable thing that the samurai could do in this unlikely case. The most a person can give up to the world is their life. When the samurai did a small, unhonorable action, they would consider themselves of a lower class and kill themselves. Following, knights had a hard time fighting over a long distance because of their weapons. The knights, as a matter of a fact, had few weapons that were all heavy and made of heavy metal. Their weapons included clubs, maces, lances, and swords. These heavy weapons were hard to heave over a long distance. Samurai, on the other hand, were skilled in swords, daggers, and kyudo, or archey. They were able to fight over a long distance of space using their bows and arrows. I believe that this was overall a smart decision for the weapon selection for the samurai. For mobility, the samurai had weak armor that only saved them from weak attacks. Attacking long distance helped them be safe while still being on the offensive. Finally, the knights had several pieces of heavy armor that consisted of heavy metals and small chain rings. Their armor was not only metal plating, but also a chain-ring-cover. Overall, the chain-ring-cover consisted of 200,000 rings weld together along with armor weighing anywhere between 40-60 pounds. Samurai, on the other hand, had weaker armor, but they did not need stronger armor due to their weapons. Kyudo allowed them to attack far distances, and their weak, light armor allowed them to become stealthy. Even if the knights had enough strength to carry all of the armor, their pieces of metal would force them to clank through where ever they walk, making enough noise to scare away anyone who was close. I believe that the samurai having weak armor was overall a better solution to heavy armor. Through this, the samurai were probably taught to be quicker on their feet, instead of slowing treading wherever they went. Overall, I believe that having lighter armor, following the Bushido, and practicing kyudo allowed the samurai to overcome the weak knights.
