The Byzantine Empire's Religious Affect on the City of Urfa

Christianity spread throughout the Byzantine Empire, and it had influenced many cities, including Urfa, which is also known as Sanliurfa. Urfa is believed to be the birthplace of Abraham, and it is said that he was immolated on a funeral pyre, but God turned the fire into water and the coals into fish. Even after the Byzantine Empire fell, christian beliefs were left there. Even the sacred pool of fish is here to this day.
